The Café Society sketches are a series of 30 portraits of Northern Michigan Coffee House Baristas that I created on sight in four different coffee houses from Petoskey to Traverse City.

In the summer of 2010 an Exhibition of the work was held in Petoskey, Michigan. At that time seven of the portraits were sold off and an additional amount of cash was raised. All of the funds raised were then placed and entrusted to the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation to provide an annual $500 scholarship for higher education directed to Northern Michigan Coffee House Workers.

In 2011 the first scholarship was awarded to Ben at Roast n' Toast in Petoskey. Ben is a student at Michigan State University majoring in drama.

Your donation will contribute toward a coffee barista's higher education and as a donor you will be helping young adults in the Northern Michigan Area advance themselves.

To make a contribution or to inquire about the scholarship, please contact the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation (PHSACF).
